Oahu’s Secular Franciscans welcomed five new members into its Fraternity of Blessed Mother Marianne Cope on Nov. 17 in the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel at Hawaii Medical Center West. Celebrating the rite of profession after three to six years of formation were Paul Sulkowski, Aida Morales, Liz Ishimitsu, Carolyn Kawamoto and Precy Cuizon. Capuchin Franciscan Father Gordon Combs, spiritual assistant for the fraternity, celebrated the Mass and presided over the profession rite. Link to full article in Hawaii Catholic Herald ___________________________________________________ On 1991 September 22 The state of Mississippi’s first secular Franciscan Order, the Mother Marianne Fraternity-of-the-Gulf, was canonically established. Members visit hospitals and nursing homes, work with the handicapped, teach Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes and are actively involved in other parish activities. They have a special interest in Aids patients. This is a current photo of its members sent on to us. God bless their goodness and good work and may Blessed Marianne increase their membership.
